Ok everybody, post your best UFO/Alien movie.
I'll have to put down Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Good ufos, but an excellent plot and characters as well.
Other favorites are War of the Worlds (both old and new) and Signs.

Yes, I remember Hangar 18. I remember watching it with my dad and always laughing at the alien voices...if you listen, they repeat fairly often. Even today, it's still a running joke with us, "sai-i-otay" to those of you who remember that film.

I agree with the original post. I thought Signs was excellent and the War of the Worlds was really good too.

Mmmm... maybe these are a bit unconventional, but how about Flight of the Navigator, Explorers, and Bad Taste. Maybe I'm stretching from the abduction/invasion stereotype (well except with Bad Taste, but that more of cattle herding than invasion), but I'd consider those UFO movies.
