Weird Laws

I don't think this one's been done yet. Crazy laws that are still on the books? I bet you could get a lot of material for that one.

I would like that idea that would be a cool one to do.

I really like this idea. They were talking about this on the radio recently and there are some real odd ball ones out there. Should we submit our local ones or do you want to do all the work ? ;)

Yeah...that hasn't been done yet. Why not? I think they've covered some on a couple episodes but not in depth. And there are some good ones. And trying to find the reason these laws came into practice would be even better. Cause you know something ridiculous sparked such laws.

If this is still active, you might find this amusing. Not a law but a store policy on 'proof of age' when buying booze.

Pensioners refused wine over ID.

Weird laws is much cooler than border-tales. I retract border-tales.
If I remember correctly, it is still legal for a gentleman to wear a sword when escorting a lady home in Vancouver. However, it may still be illegal to carry a bucket or pail of water on a Winnipeg sidewalk in the winter.

It's jaywalking. according to Wikipedia "The earliest known use of the word jaywalker in print was in the Chicago Tribune in 1909". It was not until 1917 however that it was included in the Oxford English Dictionary. The word is a compoound word Of the Words Jay and Walk. Wikipedia also says that "Jay refers to a foolish rural person—a rube—unfamiliar with city ways". It is also stated that there is actualy no historical evidence that can be traced to the letter j.
