The Ginko

The Ginko Biloba also known as the Maiden hair tree is one of the oldet trees on the planet dating bacl millions of years.
After the Atomic bombs were dropped in Japan it took a very long time in botanical time for plant life to return to normal...however the Ginko was the only plant that grew immidiately after words.
It stands in testament to the tenacity of life.
I have one I planted in my front yard.
It is a beautiful tree.

Ginko trees are so lovely, especially in the autumn. I live in Japan so of course they are everywhere.
I did not know that about the atomic bombing though, that is amazing. I could make a parallel to roaches but I would rather not.

Ginkgo biloba is about as far evolved from every plant alive today as can be. It's an amazing last survivor. Think of being the last species of mammal alive then take it another step, the last vertebrate, that is sort of what the ginkgo is like in its division. Perhaps they didn't have the same number of organisms as vertebrates, but they have been arranged to be as distant from most other plants as we are from insects.

Does anybody have a male tree, one that produces fruit that they make the extract from? Unless you ask for one, they usually only sell female trees.
