I was just looking at the tales of Colorado. I read the tale about Alfred Packer and wanted to share my own tale about him. I spent most of my childhood in Littleton, Colorado. I grew up in a house that is about 3 blocks from the Littleton Cemetery. I was told about Alfred Packer by someone...maybe school or something. One afternoon, some hooligan friends and I were hanging out in the cemetery and stumbled across a grave site that was cemented into the ground. Upon closer inspection of the tombstone, we discovered that good ol' Alfred Packer resided only 3 blocks from where we slept every night. Well, I was curious about the cemented in grave and went to the Littleton Historic Musuem and asked them about it. I found out that a few decades ago, kids would dig up his body and leave his bones on doorsteps on Halloween. This became some sort of a tradition in Littleton. He would always end up being buried again until the city decided that enough was enough and cemented the old man-eater in. His tombstone was also used in the same fashion. I can take pictures of his grave if anyone is interested in seeing them........
