Bridge of the Gods...More Columbia River content!

Another interesting tale of the Columbia River is that of The Bridge of the Gods. It was a geographic anomaly that caused a sort of dam across the river. It has many stories in Native folklore. It is now gone, of course. Even if it were still there, the damming of the river downstream at Bonneville would have certainly destroyed it. Now, there's a man-made bridge in Cascade Locks that shares the name.

There are many articles online...

Paul Fruittrees' thread on Celilo Falls reminded me of this. I'm a huge Columbia River buff...

Notoriously inaccurate?! Pshah! Since when? I'd trust the accuracy of wikipedia with my life!

I'd never heard of the bridge, unsurprisingly. Very interesting, though. I love those folklore stories that explain geographical landmarks/regions, what are those called?

It's been shown that with technical or scientific articles Wikipedia is a very reliable source and that the entries are no worse than the Encyclopedia Britanica. But with historical or bibliographical articles the reliability goes WAY down.

I guess techy people are just more prudent.
