Ok, the most well known of them all is the Ghost of La Llorona, who I’m told haunts not only LA, but all across to as far as Texas. The LA version is that a woman was in love with a soldier. Soon after she got pregnant he was called away and distraught, she gave birth then dumped the baby into the LA River. When he came back he wanted to see his child and horrified at what she had done, left her. She was probably already cookoo for coco puffs and his leaving knocked her completely full goose bozo. She’s said to haunt the river and canals looking for her child yet she’s perfectly happy to snatch any child who she comes across.
The Black Dahlia has been seen ridding an elevator up to a certain floor and even speaks to, from what I’ve heard she’s more comfortable speaking to married men and she says so, well anyway she says she’s meeting someone and she is having serious reservations about the meeting. The doors open to her floor and she steps out then turns to get back in but the doors close before she can. Said guy opens the doors immediately but she’s completely vanished.
Marilyn has been seen in a mirror that is now in the lobby, near the elevators of the Roosevelt hotel. Bugsy Segal is up on the 4th? floor playing a trumpet.
A Stage performer (Least I believe she’s a stage performer), woman again, is seem climbing the H in the Hollywood sign in a bright blue dress. Back in either the late 20s or early 30s she came to LA to perform, went to a flurry of auditions and after a few weeks gave up and killed herself. Everyone ends this story by saying that from a day later to a week later, a letter was mailed to her saying that she got a major part in some play.
Studio 23 at Universal Studios is haunted by Lon Chaney as it still contains the original sets from the Phantom of the Opera, he’s seen in full make up running across the rafters in costume from time to time. I have written them several dozen time begging them to let me see the set. Just to be in the same room as the stage of the Paris Opera would equal a religious pilgrimage for me. Unfortunately I’ve never gotten a reply. I’ve even suggested they … I know off had 30, give me a month to put the word out and I can EASILY round up 500 to 1000 fellow Phans who are more than willing to pay 100 dollars EACH to be in the presence of that set. I can completely understand that they want to preserve it, but, with me at least, they would not even have to take off the shrouds.
Bela Lugosi has been seen walking down Hollywood boulevard on occasion.
Rudolph Valentino has also been spotted in just about every room of the Hacienda directly next to the Paramount Arch as that building use to be the home/dressing room of who ever Paramount’s lead actor managed to bargain it into their contract that year or five.
Speaking of Paramount, I took their tour (MUCH BETTER than Universals as in it is strictly limited five people per tour, walking and guided personally by a senior staff member, who is more than willing to talk to you one on one and it can last from 20 minutes to 4 hours depending on how in depth you want to go) Their prop room is haunted by an unknown person who likes to move things around and knock things over and show up on Polaroid‘s.
LAACO, The Los Angeles Athletic Club established 1886, which I grew up running a freaking muck in, is haunted from my own experience. This is first hand accounts here… being family of the founder means that we (my cousins and I) have pretty much open door access and not the main dining room, but the Grill or Lunch room, there is a back corner two seat table where I’ve heard conversations coming from but there’s no one sitting there. It’s always something about finances and they are debating ordering more coffee. The west stair well has someone I’ve seen/bumped into a few times running up and down playing tag only to look back or catch up to and He’s gone, wearing a black or navy blue jacket and pants. I’m told he’s an old staffer and unfortunately he only appears to kids an it’s been years since I saw him. All of my cousins for the past three generations continue to this day get really creeped out in the hallways of the 12th floor. I still feel like there is something there that doesn’t want me there. The ballerina painting on the 11th floor is just freaky as her eyes are painted completely black (no whites in her eyes). There is someone who follows you around in the basement. The one literally everyone hears the most is in the hand-ball courts. Ok, From the elevators, go to the coke machine in the doorway next to the Snack bar past the coke machine and stairs, take a right next to the desk, then a left. That SHOULD be the set where the stairs are NOT (well they have a two inch thick Plexiglas wall there) separated from the courts and have carpet on them. Anyway, the two courts with the carpeted stairs are the ones you want. If you go the first one it wont happen. If you to the second one and play a game or if you do as I do and go in there by yourself for a round of “anger management” After about five ten minutes the court next to you will have a WILD game going, with no one actually using it. No one there. It’s always fun to take a friend along who doesn’t know, only to see the WTF expression. The sitting room of the 4th floor Ladies room use to be the little kids baby sitting room and had large windows that overlooked the Main Dining Room, I’ve heard little kids laughing in there and my Mother is convinced it’s one of her cousins who she use to play in there with who died when she was six.
