I was looking through a local color magazine and found an article "Famous Faces at LSU" and was surprised to find a face I actually knew personally. http://mrrrty.wordpress.com/2008/04/24/ ... es-at-lsu/
One of my grad professors was this 80+ year old man known around town because he rides a large blue tricycle. When I was in school, attached the back of the trike were two orange safety flags with the words "Peace" and "Love" written on one side and "F*** YOU" written on the other. I once heard a student ask him why and his answer was that the expletive was for the people who don't like peace and love.
Miles is one of the more interesting people I've had the fortune to meet. He lives by the credo "Subvert the Dominant Paradigm" and encourages his students to do the same. This is a man who will lay on the ground and roll down the side of an Indian mound while his students look on in fear that he's going to hurt himself and will happily embarrass his students by having them take pictures pretending to sacrifice each other to the sun god.
