I've always wanted to try rattlesnake but I doubt there will be any kind of opportunity any time soon ... especially since I ain't any kind of Survivorman.

I had a mako shark steak once. It was fantastic. Some of the best fish I've ever had. Also have had buffalo, deer and guinea hen. All good with me.

Cheddar & Bacon Crickets and Mexican Spice Larva thanks to our listener Cody.

Did you think it had a really bad after taste? I had it a few weeks ago and both my friend and I felt it had a horrid after taste. But it did indeed taste like chick up until then.
No, I thought it was ok. However, it was a bit tough, but it could have just been prepared poorly. Then again, it was in Ohio, a state not known for alligators.

Has anyone ever eaten "lamb fries" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamb_fries
Lamb fries is the name generally given to lamb animelles (testicles) that have been peeled, rolled in cracker meal, fried, and served as food. They are otherwise known as lamb "balls."
How about "Rocky Mountain Oysters"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Mountain_oysters
Rocky Mountain oysters, mountain oysters, prairie oysters, Montana tendergroin or swinging sirloin are American culinary names given to buffalo, boar or bull testicles. They are usually peeled, coated in flour, pepper and salt, sometimes pounded flat, then deep-fried.
I know I've had nearly fully formed duck embryos in my mouth but even I might have to draw the line here.

Yeesh ... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Dared to try the Durian

Postby MsBlack on Tue Jan 29, 2008 2:21 am

This stuff is illegal to import and export from some countries so I had to seek it out when we were at T & T mart in Vancouver, Canada. http://www.frommers.com/destinations/va ... 29661.html ]
My sister moved to Sumas, WA a few years back and has taken to driving into Vancouver to do her more interesting shopping. So after seeing a few episodes on the Food Network displaying the reaction of a few Americans attempting to eat it I knew exactly what I was looking for. In this market I zeroed in on the produce and fruit section and found the precious Durian already shrinkwrapped to a styrofoam plate. I could smell that pungent old onion, blue cheese creamy mystery working its way through the glad wrap. Five Canadian dollars later I was outside around the corner and popped a piece in my mouth. Not entirely gagging I managed to swallow it and I'm very glad I did. I'd been prepped by my Mother in law's Roasted Garlic Ice cream and this odd custard-like oniony treat certainly is an experience if not nature's experiment that humans can adapt to each anything.

WOW! You guys got me beat all hollow! The weirdest food that I've ever eaten is Haggis, or perhaps duck's blood soup (A Polish delicacy).
